The top search string for bitterpill.org in August so far is: 'dumb ass'.
It really speaks for itself.
Update: did a google search for 'dumb ass', and bitterpill.org came up seventh. Finally, all the hard work is paying off.
Unemployment, boredom, too much free time, lack of any discernible social life, all have conspired to bring comments to bitter pill.
A few technical notes for those who care (really just a bit of padding to this, our first post with comments).
The comments form is generated using Velocity, a super cool java templating tool that Nick had pointed out a few years ago and then Gina a little while back. Both are much smarter and prettier than I, and I should listen to them always, Always!
The data store is simply mysql and some jdbc, nothing fancy, and a dash of DAO to keep things separate.
I added a dynamic image validation scheme ala paypal to keep people honest. Not that I thought that it would be an issue. I just wanted to play around with it is all.
In the end, really not much more than a time killer, but it's been a while since I've done any real development here at bitter pill, and it was nice to get back into the old heap of barely manageable code.
So, comment or don't, but keep it clean, and come out punching.
Jim is blogging about blogging (blogblogging). I am blogging about his blog blogging, so this is a blog blogging blog blo...or something like that.
A bit of a redesign, and a push towards xhtml compliance. Some times there's just so much beauty in the world, not that this is one of them.
Update: seems the pull link/nifty javascript/dealie is not working in internet explorer.
Update update: seems I don't care enough to fix it...
